Apple Driving School FAQ's
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the California DMV to offer driver training courses in California?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently certified to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in California. We suggest you contact the California DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is certified before you enroll in their driver training course.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to take a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in. There are some states which allow you to do your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school. However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course. We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
Do you know if Apple Driving School will let me take my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic! Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Apple Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will Apple Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driving school like Apple Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular area.
Are 14-year-olds eligible to obtain a learner's permit in California?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to hold an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½. You will need to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction company like Apple Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in California.
Do I have to complete a Los Angeles California drivers education classroom course or online course before signing up to take one of Apple Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course. You may want to ask Apple Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
