Safe Driving School FAQ's
Safe Driving School's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is an approved behind the wheel training school in California?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is certified by the California DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses. We strongly suggest that you contact Safe Driving School directly or check with the California DMV to find out for sure if Safe Driving School is a licensed school.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to take a professional driver training course?
It depends on which state you live in. There are some states which allow you to do your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school. However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course. We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I have no clue how to drive a stick-shift vehicle. What happens if Safe Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic! If you prefer to do your hands-on driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Safe Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course. That way you'll know for sure whether Safe Driving School will be able to accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live in a small mountain community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my behind-the-wheel training with Safe Driving School include being taught how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for city driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area. Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Safe Driving School will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
Are 14-year-olds eligible to obtain a learner's permit in California?
