Grand Prairie Driving School FAQ's

Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-licensed by the Texas DMV to offer driver training courses in Texas?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer driving training courses in Texas.  We suggest you contact the Texas DMV to make sure a particular driving school is certified before you enroll in their driving course.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to attend a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to complete your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course.  We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if Grand Prairie Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Grand Prairie Driving School and let them know before you enroll in their driver training course.  That way you'll know for sure whether Grand Prairie Driving School will be able to accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Grand Prairie Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain community, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Grand Prairie Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to apply for a instruction permit in Texas?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to receive a learner's permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school like Grand Prairie Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Texas.
Do I have to complete a Grand Prairie Texas drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Grand Prairie Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Grand Prairie Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Does Grand Prairie Driving School provide a hands-on driver training course like the one that is required by the State of Texas? I need to register for one in order to obtain my driver license.
Grand Prairie Driving School offers driver training courses which are approved by the Texas DMV.  You may want to contact Grand Prairie Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about signing up for one.
I live in Grand Prairie Texas. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first Texas driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Texas, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Grand Prairie Driving School may offer courses which would fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
Is there a law in Texas that says I have to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in Texas mandates that all teen-agers take an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a Texas driver's license.
Can I enroll in a Texas-licensed driver training course even if I don't have my Texas learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Texas instruction permit before registering in a Texas behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Grand Prairie Driving School and ask for more information.
