Austin Driving School FAQ's
How do I know if Austin Driving School is licensed by Texas's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Austin Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Austin Driving School is licensed by the State of Texas. We recommend that you either contact Austin Driving School directly or possibly the Texas DMV to find out if Austin Driving School is a licensed driver training school.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to enroll in a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in. There are some states which permit you to do your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school. However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course. We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I don't know how to drive using a stick-shift. Will Austin Driving School have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my behind-the-wheel training?
Since you're enrolling in a White Settlement Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a manual-shift OR an automatic! However, you should let Austin Driving School know what your preference is before registering for their behind-the-wheel class. That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will Austin Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving school like Austin Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
Are 14-year-olds eligible to obtain a instruction permit in Texas?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to receive a learner's permit at either 15 or 15½. You will need to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school like Austin Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Texas.
Will I be required to register for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in White Settlement Texas?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now mandate new teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a drivers education course as well as a driver training course.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if Austin Driving School offers this course or not?
Austin Driving School does offer the driver training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take. For more information about the courses Austin Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Austin Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Texas will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to register for a safe driving classroom or online course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course. Austin Driving School may be able to help you meet the driver training requirement in Texas. Please contact either Austin Driving School or the Texas DMV for more information.
Is it necessary for me to take a driver training course in order to get my first Texas driver's license?
Yes, it is. All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Texas must complete a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Can I enroll in a Texas-approved driver training course even if I don't have my Texas learners permit yet?
Most likely, no. Most states have laws that require a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Texas learners permit before registering in a Texas behind-the-wheel training course. It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Austin Driving School and ask for more information.
