Alvarez Driving School FAQ's

Can you tell me if Alvarez Driving School is a certified driving school in Illinois?
Although Alvarez Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently certified to teach hands-on driving courses in Illinois.  We recommend either calling Alvarez Driving School directly or the Illinois DMV to find out whether or not Alvarez Driving School offers driver training courses that are state-approved.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Chicago Illinois driving school like Alvarez Driving School to fulfill my driver training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Illinois DMV or a state-approved driving school like Alvarez Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
I have no clue how to drive a stick-shift vehicle. What happens if Alvarez Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your hands-on driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Alvarez Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their driver training course.  That way you'll know for sure whether Alvarez Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live in a small rural town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Alvarez Driving School include being taught how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from Alvarez Driving School will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
Can 14-year-olds get instruction permits to drive in Illinois?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for an instruction permit at 15 or 15 1/2.  However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to obtain an instruction permit.  You may want to contact the Illinois DMV or a Illinois-approved driver training school like Alvarez Driving School to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Illinois.
Can I take Alvarez Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Chicago Illinois defensive driving classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Illinois's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Illinois's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved driver training course.  We recommend that you contact Alvarez Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
Illinois's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Alvarez Driving School offers this course or not?
Alvarez Driving School does offer the driver training course that Illinois requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Alvarez Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Alvarez Driving School directly.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Illinois driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Illinois DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to meet in order to obtain your first driver's license.
I live in Chicago Illinois and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a driver training course before I can be licensed?
Illinois law requires that all first-time drivers sign up for an approved behind-the-wheel training program before receiving their Illinois driver's license.  Alvarez Driving School may offer a behind-the-wheel training course that you are looking for.  Please contact Alvarez Driving School directly for complete information as to what types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer.
Will Illinois allow me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually receive my instruction permit?
