Expert Driving School FAQ's

Since Expert Driving School appears on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Illinois DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the Illinois DMV.  You may want to call Expert Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my behind-the-wheel training, so I don't have to attend a Chicago Illinois driving school like Expert Driving School to fulfill my driver training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Illinois DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Expert Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
Do I need to tell Expert Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift automobile? I don't know how to operate a manual-shift car.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift car!  We recommend that you ask Expert Driving School if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift automobile before you enroll in their driver training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a remote area? Will Expert Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driving school like Expert Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Expert Driving School or the Illinois DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Illinois.
Do I have to complete a Chicago Illinois drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Expert Driving School's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask Expert Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I have to complete a driver training class in Chicago Illinois before Illinois will give me my driver's license. Does Expert Driving School offer this type of course?
Expert Driving School does offer the safe driver training course in Chicago Illinois that is required by the State of Illinois.  You will need to contact Expert Driving School directly for more information about the behind-the-wheel courses they offer and their class schedules.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Illinois driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Illinois DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to meet in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Is a behind-the-wheel training course required in Chicago Illinois for me to get a drivers license?
The law in Illinois requires that all drivers complete a driver training program as part of their driver education.  You should contact Expert Driving School directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Can I enroll in a Illinois-certified driver training course even if I don't have my Illinois instruction permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Illinois learners permit before registering in a Illinois driver training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Expert Driving School and ask for more information.
