How do I know if Sky Driving School is certified by New York's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Sky Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Sky Driving School is certified by the State of New York. We recommend that you either contact Sky Driving School directly or possibly the New York DMV to find out if Sky Driving School is a certified driver training school.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license. However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught driver training course. We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Sky Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle! However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Sky Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a small mountain community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my behind-the-wheel training with Sky Driving School include being taught how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for city driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area. Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from Sky Driving School will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in New York?
Possibly. However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get a learner's permit. We recommend that you contact the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Sky Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in New York.
