GSF Driving FAQ's
GSF Driving's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is a licensed behind the wheel training school in California?
Even though we provide a list of behind-the-wheel training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the California DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses. We strongly suggest that you contact GSF Driving directly or check with the California DMV to find out for sure if GSF Driving is a licensed school.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my behind-the-wheel training instead of a professional driver training school instructor like the ones they have at GSF Driving?
It depends on what your state's laws are. You should contact the California DMV or a licensed driver training school like GSF Driving to find out if California allows behind-the-wheel training with a parent.
What if I don't know how to operate a manual-shift automobile? Does GSF Driving have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my driver training?
If you're taking a Los Angeles California behind-the-wheel training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- manual or automatic. However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell GSF Driving that prior to registering for the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will GSF Driving be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as GSF Driving will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and rugged terrain. We recommend that you contact GSF Driving directly to find out exactly what they offer.
Can I apply for my California instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no. Most states have set the youngest age to obtain an instruction permit at 15 or 15½. You may want to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction school like GSF Driving to learn more about the minimum age requirement in California.
Am I required to take a Los Angeles California classroom or online drivers education course before I can register for a driver training course through GSF Driving?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do require pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a driver training course. You should ask GSF Driving if they offer one or both programs.
California's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if GSF Driving offers this course or not?
GSF Driving does offer the driver training course that California requires all new teen-aged drivers to take. For more information about the courses GSF Driving offers, we recommend that you contact GSF Driving directly.
What are the requirements in Los Angeles California for obtaining a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course. GSF Driving may offer an approved driver training course which you could take. Please contact GSF Driving for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
What are the laws in California concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do. California law states that new drivers successfully complete an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Do I need to have my learner's permit before I enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that GSF Driving offers?
You will need to contact GSF Driving or the California DMV to find out if you are allowed to sign up with a driving school like GSF Driving before receiving your California instruction permit.
