Inter-American Driving School FAQ's
Is Inter-American Driving School an approved driving school in California?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in California. We highly recommend that you contact Inter-American Driving School directly or the California DMV to find out for sure if Inter-American Driving School offers driver training courses that have been approved by the State of California.
Will the California DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly. Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor. You will need to contact the California DMV to find out if your behind-the-wheel driving may be done by your parents in California.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if Inter-American Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic! If you prefer to do your hands-on driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Inter-American Driving School and let them know before you enroll in their behind-the-wheel training course. That way you'll know for sure whether Inter-American Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live in a small mountain town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my behind-the-wheel training with Inter-American Driving School include being taught how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for city driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area. Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Inter-American Driving School will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in California?
Possibly. However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit. We recommend that you contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Inter-American Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in California.
Do you know if the laws in California require new teen-aged drivers to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to successfully complete a driver training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course.
Does Inter-American Driving School provide a driver training course like the one that is required by the State of California? I need to sign up for one in order to obtain my driver license.
Inter-American Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses which are approved by the California DMV. You may want to contact Inter-American Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about registering for one.
