Safe Driving Academy FAQ's
Can you tell me if Safe Driving Academy is a licensed driving school in California?
Although Safe Driving Academy is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach hands-on driving courses in California. We recommend either calling Safe Driving Academy directly or the California DMV to find out whether or not Safe Driving Academy offers behind-the-wheel training courses that are state-approved.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to enroll in a professional driver training course?
It depends on which state you live in. There are some states which allow you to complete your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school. However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course. We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I don't know how to drive using a manual-shift. Will Safe Driving Academy have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my driver training?
Since you're enrolling in a San Francisco California driver training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a manual-shift OR an automatic! However, you should let Safe Driving Academy know what your preference is before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel class. That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Safe Driving Academy be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Safe Driving Academy will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of rugged terrain. You may wish to contact Safe Driving Academy to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?

We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Safe Driving Academy or the California DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in California.
