AA Adult Driving School FAQ's
Is AA Adult Driving School an approved driving school in Texas?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas. We highly recommend that you contact AA Adult Driving School directly or the Texas DMV to find out for sure if AA Adult Driving School offers driver training courses that have been approved by the State of Texas.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving instructor in Texas, so taking a Irving behind-the-wheel training course like the one AA Adult Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Texas DMV or a licensed driver training school like AA Adult Driving School and ask them. While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if AA Adult Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic! If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call AA Adult Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their driver training course. That way you'll know for certain whether AA Adult Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will AA Adult Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like AA Adult Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of bumpy terrain. You may wish to contact AA Adult Driving School to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before registering for their training course.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in Texas?
Possibly. However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit. We recommend that you contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as AA Adult Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Texas.
Do I have to take a Irving Texas classroom or online drivers education course before I can enroll in a driver training course through AA Adult Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do mandate pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course. You should ask AA Adult Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if AA Adult Driving School offers this course or not?
AA Adult Driving School does offer the driver training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take. For more information about the courses AA Adult Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact AA Adult Driving School directly.
I live in Irving Texas. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first Texas driver's license?
