Community Driving School FAQ's

Is Community Driving School a certified driving school in Colorado?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in Colorado.  We highly recommend that you contact Community Driving School directly or the Colorado DMV to find out for sure if Community Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Colorado.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving instructor in Colorado, so taking a Westminster behind-the-wheel training course like the one Community Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Colorado DMV or a licensed driving school like Community Driving School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
Do I need to tell Community Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift automobile? I don't know how to operate a manual-shift car.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a manual-shift OR and automatic-shift vehicle!  We recommend that you ask Community Driving School if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle before you sign up to take their driver training course.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if Community Driving School offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a rural area, a local driving school such as Community Driving School will tailor your behind-the-wheel training to handle the conditions in your area.
Can I get my Colorado instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the minimum age to obtain an instruction permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driver training school like Community Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Colorado.
Can I take Community Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Westminster Colorado defensive driving classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Colorado's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Colorado's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved driver training course.  We recommend that you contact Community Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I am looking to register for a Westminster Colorado behind-the-wheel training course. Can Community Driving School assist me with this?
Yes.  defensive driving courses are available in Westminster Colorado through Community Driving School.  Please contact Community Driving School directly with questions regarding their schedule of classes and registration information.
What steps do I have to take in order to get a Colorado drivers license in Westminster Colorado?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  Community Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training portion in Colorado.  Please contact Community Driving School for more information.

Is it necessary for me to take a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get my first Colorado driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Colorado are required to take a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Is it okay for me to register for a driver training class in Colorado before I receive my Colorado learners permit to drive?
Probably not.  Most states require first-time drivers to have their learners permit before they are allowed to sign up to take a driver training program.  You should contact a driving instruction company like Community Driving School and request more information.
