Driver's Point Driving School FAQ's

Is Driver's Point Driving School a licensed driving school in Texas?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas.  We highly recommend that you contact Driver's Point Driving School directly or the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Driver's Point Driving School offers driver training courses that have been approved by the State of Texas.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if Driver's Point Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Driver's Point Driving School and let them know before you enroll in their driver training course.  That way you'll know for certain whether Driver's Point Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on unpaved roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will Driver's Point Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Driver's Point Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact Driver's Point Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Driver's Point Driving School or the Texas DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Texas.
Do I have to take both a defensive driving classroom course and a driver training course in Houston Texas to get my Texas driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers sign up to take a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Driver's Point Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Does Driver's Point Driving School provide a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that is required by the State of Texas? I need to enroll in one in order to obtain my driver license.
Driver's Point Driving School offers driver training courses which are approved by the Texas DMV.  You may want to contact Driver's Point Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about signing up for one.
How do I get a drivers license in Houston Texas?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom drivers education course and a driver training course.  Driver's Point Driving School may be able to help you meet the behind-the-wheel training portion in Texas.
What are the laws in Texas concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Texas law states that new drivers take an approved behind-the-wheel training course as a prerequisite to obtaining their first driver's license.
Will Texas allow me to sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually receive my instruction permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you receive your learner's permit before you register with a driver training course.
