Baytown Driving School FAQ's
Is Baytown Driving School a certified driving school in Texas?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas. We highly recommend that you contact Baytown Driving School directly or the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Baytown Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Texas.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Texas?
Each state has its own rules regarding driver training. Some states will allow parentally-supervised driver training as a substitute for attending a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor. However, not all states allow this. You should contact the Texas DMV to find out for sure.
I have no clue how to drive a stick-shift vehicle. What happens if Baytown Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic! If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Baytown Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course. That way you'll know for certain whether Baytown Driving School will be able to accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live in a rural area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will Baytown Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a rural area, chances are very good that a local driving school like Baytown Driving School will want you to be trained in driving specific to the local area's terrain.
Can 14-year-olds get instruction permits to drive in Texas?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for an instruction permit at 15 or 15 1/2. However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to get a learner's permit. You may want to contact the Texas DMV or a Texas-approved driver training school like Baytown Driving School to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Texas.
Can I take Baytown Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Baytown Texas drivers education classroom course or online course?

However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Texas's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course. We recommend that you contact Baytown Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
