So you've taken your first step towards becoming a new driver in Rockville Centre New York? Congratulations!
As you probably already know, driving is a valuable skill, but can also be extremely dangerous. Therefore, to help new teen drivers develop safe driving habits during their first few years behind the wheel, the State of Rockville Centre New York has implemented a graduated driver license program for Rockville Centre New York drivers who are under the age of 18.

With a provisional license, some restrictions will still apply:
- Whenever you drive, you must be accompanied by a licensed adult driver who's at least 21 years old who actively supervises your driving from the front passenger seat.
- All passengers (including you) must wear seatbelts.
- In Rockville Centre New York City, you may not drive on any street within a park
- You may not drive across any bridge or in any tunnel that's under the jurisdiction of the Triborough Bridge & Tunnel Authority
- You may not drive on the Cross Country, Hutchinson River, Saw Mill River, or Taconic State parkways in Westchester County
After 12 months, if you have kept a clean driving record, you may apply for full driver's license if you pass the road test. With a full license, the above restrictions are removed.

The State of Rockville Centre New York requires that you maintain a certain amount of liability coverage on any vehicle you drive. The minimum required coverage is as follows:
- $25,000--personal injury (1 person)
- $50,000--personal injury (2 or more persons)
- $50,000--death (1 person)
- $100,000--death (2 or more persons)
- $10,000--property damage
Driving while uninsured is a crime! If you drive without the required insurance coverage, you will face having your license suspended, plus a hefty fine.
Rockville Centre New York Drunk Driving Laws
Drinking while under the influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited in Rockville Centre New York, and the law is strictly enforced.
Upon your FIRST Rockville Centre New York DUI conviction, you will face the following penalties:
- 1 year in Jail
- 6-month (minimum) license suspension
- Fine ranging from $500 to $1,000
- Mandatory surcharge
